    keep these sound ok

    1 Tesco 6 Garlic & Herb Pitta Bread Each £0.44 £0.44

ok im taking it for granted u get 2 meals from the mince
and one meal from the other 3?
    do u stew the lamb?
an the sausage do u make sausage an mash or a caserole
i buy 2 pack of these one for each of the meals as there relatively cheap meals if u buy or make your own mix which i will talk about later

    1 Tesco Madras Cooking Sauce 500g Each £0.74 £0.74
ok the chilli mix's...u could bye chilli powder an exra tin of tomatoes to make this it would be cheaper as the powder will last a few chilli's and you dont have to buy the dearer tomatoes
the beef an lamb mixe's i see u buy stock cubes if the caserole is done in the oven for a longer time on a lower temp using these with tomatoes its justy as good if u find its not thick enough buy cornflour to thicken it up at the end or you get the cheaper versions of the mix's if u dont have the time
the sausage caserole mix is nice as well there about 35 p i add a cheap tin of beans to my caseroles or a tin of oxtail soup or u could just ad the soup an broth mix

    1 Tesco Value Processed Peas 300g Each £0.16 £0.16
    1 Tesco Value Mushy Peas300g Each £0.16 £0.16
    2 Heinz Chopped Tomatoes4 X 400g Each £1.96 £3.92

Don't buy the ready made sauces and casserole mixes. :D
Get some dried or fresh herbs and spices and make your own! This also has the benefit that you don't get the chemicals that all ready mixes are full of, so healthier too. ;)
You soon get to know what to put in each time, just experiment a bit. If you get dried herbs/spices they will keep and last for ages. :T
You could even go really OS and grow your own herbs in pots - even if you only have a window sill you can grow stuff - imagine picking your own crops, how green is that! And how good will you feel!:A

    soave is wine i think
also do you have any milk etc you need to add to that list? there is alot of meals there for one week. ive cut back alot thanks to the help i got on here, i rarely use packet mixs/jars anymore and find i make a nice saving alone from not buying them also my food tates nicer

pad your mince out and you should get more meals from the 2 packs (i use grated carrot and porridge oats)

sorry being quite new to all this i dont know too much

  • if u add the tuna with a little garlic an mayo then add it to boiled pasta there is a great lunch an really cheap

oh an ment to add u can buy smaller stewing meat ie making a smaller caserole but add dumplings or a pastry crust to fill the tums
Which came first the chicken or the egg....suppose it depends on which one is mispriced...i know not funny :o

    Mortgage-free Glee!
This time of year is perfect to start sowing seeds for carrots, herbs, tomatoes, onions, plant seed potatoes, salad leaves in the garden if you have the space and all really easy to grow too.

As already suggested, bulk buy carrots, peel and blanch in boiling water then freeze in portion sizes instead of buying ready prepared stuff.

Avoid packets and ready made sauces - as well as the chemicals, they contain hideous amounts of salt and sugar:eek:

Use value tinned tomatoes instead of Heinz.

Do you have a Lidl's nearby? I find them cheaper for meat and veg than Tescos.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

To be honest it looks like you are doing pretty well, not a lot of extravangances on there. But here are my tips:

    1. can you uise Asda instead ? I find it cheaper
    2. Don't buy pizzas, make your own dough and use own brand bolognaise sauce for tomato sauce. Plus your 2 year old will love helping out toppings on]
    3. Seems like a lot of meat, could you buy half the amount each week and make each item stretch to 2 meals (one to be frozen perhaps)
    4. Stop any "treats" eg hot cross buns (couldnt see any other so well done!)
    5. Buy value stuff eg pitta breads, fruit/veg - mushrooms,
    6. Buy own brand instead of names eg Schwartz, princes tuna
    7. Normal tomatoes often cheaper than cherry toms and go a bit further
    8. Didnt see many veg (except salady stuff)? You could buy carrots, courgettes, peppers etc and bulk out caseroles, spag bol, chilli etc with those which will be cheaper than meat.
    9. Didn't see any fresh fruit ? Do you normally buy fruit ? Value bags of fruit are generally quite cheap, one week buy apples, one week buy pears etc.

FWIW We spend around £250 per month for 2 adults 2 children (one of which in nappies)

    NSDs: 3
    Walk to school: 2/47
    Bloater challenge: £0/0lbs

  • Buy a sack of spuds and a sack of carrots at the market if you have one.
Get rid of the readymade sauces and make your own -healthier as well as cheaper.
All those tinned veg-buy frozen-nicer and cheaper.
I pad out my mince that one pack for £1(present offer price) feeds 8 as I add some soya mince to it(the soya works out at about 10p) You can buy it in healthfood shops.
Curries are great with chickpeas, lentils, soupmix, various dried beans and pulses. You wouldnt even miss the meat in these.
Frozen chicken breasts from Iceland are excellent and the best value in town.
Your sausages seem pricey. I only every buy them on bogof. Do this and freeze the extra packs.
I buy the "value washing powder" it washes just as well. Buy some soapnuts(look for them on ebay thats the cheapest place)use these for less grubby clothes, sheets, towels etc. They last for ages!
