Refused bank account

Hi
My daughter who is 17 has just been to the Cooperative bank to open a current account with them. Unfortunately they refused saying there was something on file that has rejected her opening a bank account and to contact Equifax. I have a current account with them and my other daughter has one too with them. She never has had any bad debt whatsoever in fact never has had any credit cards, catalogues etc as would not allow this. I have had a couple missed payments in my name on a catalogue due to sheer ignorance/forgetfullness but nothing else. I just cannot understand it. Please can anyone shed some light on this as am concerned to why this could have happened. Thanks in advance x

Pay £2 and get a copy of the statutory report or get her to sign up for the free trial if she can to get it for free. Once you have that then you'll have a clearer idea of the possible issue0

She needs to go to http://www.equifax.co.uk and either click for the free report or down at the bottom is the link for the £2 statutory report0

At 17 she can't have anything on her credit file as she would have to be 18!! Perhaps you need to do a disassociation from yourself or your other daughter. The is now quick fix to this, so you will to wait sorryFor everthing else there's mastercard.

Thanks have ordered it online now to be delivered by post as she cannot view it online due to being under 18 when you mean disassociation from myself etc what do you mean by that sorry for being thick but never had this before. To the best of my knowledge you can have things on your credit file at any age, though being under 18 you cannot be held legally liable for debts unless they are for "essentials"
They are suggesting filing a notice of disassociation to say that you and your daughter are not financially linked. On the assumption you've never had a joint account in the first place then this wouldnt be necessary but the credit file will show any financial associates when it arrives0 -
It sounds more like a CIFAS marker, as under 18s are not credit scored. CIFAS is the fraud protection agency.0

If this was the case then the bank would most likely close the other persons accountFor everthing else there's mastercard.
