Problems with ipod repair, shop not taking responsibilty,

This is a bit long and winded, so here goes.
1. I took my Daughters 8gb Ipod Touch with camera into Mr Mobile on 28 / 04 / 12 to get the screen repaired. I was told to come back in 2 hours as this repair could be done on the premises. I went back in 2 hours and was told another hour. Eventually after nearly 4 hours I went back to the shop. I was advised from the sales assistant that the ipod had short circuited and that he had to send it away for repair to the repair centre. I was advised this would take 2 weeks.
2. 4 weeks later on 26th May I returned to the shop for the ipod. I offered to pay by card and the shop assistant told me cash only as the payment machine wasn’t working, I refused to pay by cash, He gave the payment machine a couple of taps and said “it is working now” I then paid by card on my Barclays card for the sum of £50 I was advised to take the ipod home and charge for 3 hours. My daughter who lives up in Inverness took the ipod home.
3. She called me to say that she tried to charge the ipod but it wouldn’t charge, also the cable was tight to fit into the ipod and also there was a blemish under the screen.
4. I called the shop and explained that my daughter lived up North, She wouldn’t be down straight away and it would be 2 weeks before she was back. The shopkeeper told me to bring it back when I could.
5. I took it into shop and explained the situation, the blemish under the screen, the tight fit charger dock and that the ipod would not charge. He became very aggressive, raising his voice and saying it wasn’t like that when it left the shop. I maintained that I was not happy about it, and that I would like the problem sorted. I also said that if the battery was the problem then I would be more than happy to pay for a new battery, but I would like the screen to be fixed properly. The shop assistant agreed to sort out problem with screen and the problem with it not charging and I was told to come back in 2 weeks. HE DID NOT GIVE ME A RECIEPT ALTHOUGH I ASKED.
6. .I went back in two weeks and no ipod, and another week, I then went back in 1 week later and still no ipod. The young gentleman in shop told me he didn’t know where the ipod was and he phoned the 1st sales assistant who short circuited the ipod the 1st time I went into repair the screen. I spoke to him told me that the repair centre was trying to find a part to fix the ipod and that they stopped making this part. I said this couldn’t be possible as the ipod was only 4 months. Again he became aggressive on the phone. I then passed the phone back to the young lad in the shop.
7. 09 / 08 / 12 I eventually got the ipod from the shop. The ipod would still not charge, the blemish on screen was not fixed and the cable was still very tight – CLEARLY THIS WAS NOT REPAIRED.
8. I again called the 1st shopkeeper and said I wasn’t happy about it, and also why did it take so long to get it back. I got various excuses from him. He told me there was so many phones in shop that he couldn’t find mine, he also said that he never had a phone number for my ipod (this is untrue as he stuck a label with my number on the ipod) he then said that the repair centre would not fix the repair. Again lots of excuses. He also became very aggrieve again and was swearing and told me that he the problem was all my fault. He then hung up. I texted him again and he said he would repair the screen for £30 but I declined as I would like all the damaged caused by the short cicuit so the ipod is back to full working state, either repair or replacement.
I have had the ipod looked at by an independent computer and electronics expert and he has written a report regarding the damage to the ipod. It clearly stats the ipod has been tampered with ie battery joints, camera and lcd screen removed from digitizer
I have sent a recored delivery letter explaining all this, and also a letter that consumer rights advised me to send, i however think the shop are not going to budge,,what shall i do next?

Send a letter before action giving them 14 days to resolve, tell them that if they don't it'll result in court action. Send Recorded.
14 days without a reply, file a Small Claim for the value of the iPod.0 -
Not sure how the small claims court work, will look into it, wouldnt it cost more to take them to court than the actually price of the ipod

No. £25 (?) filing fee and then a hearing fee (if it even got that far). And assuming you won then they would liable for these fees anyway.

I had a result, sent of the letter regarding all the problems i had with the ipod, the owner of the shop actually turned up at my house with a brand new ipod - he was away for 3 months and the lad who was running the shop robbed him of thousands, the owner was very apoligetic regarding all the problems. He now has the job of trying to get the shop reputation back to what it was0

I wonder if thats why the guy wanted you to pay cash. He could've rung up £20 on the till and pocketed the rest :X
At least you got a result though!
