Car Insurance No Claims Discount

Hi,

My boyfriend was insured under his ex-girlfriend's Dad's multi-car insurance policy with Admiral as a named additional driver. Now that he wants to insure a car in his own name, Admiral won't provide proof of his 6 years no claims without the Dad's permission, and the ex-girlfriend's Dad will not assist in any way. Is there anything he can do? This seems very unfair.

Was he on this insurance as a named driver or did he have insurance in his own name.

I think you only get a NCD if you have policy in your own name. In which case get him to ring Admiral for a quote as a new driver but they will have records of him being a named driver and maybe give a decent discount.
I may be wrong and I'm quite happy to be corrected.

As a named driver he would have a clean claims history but no NCD.

In these circumstances most insurers give an automatic introductory discount. Admiral may be willing to go a little further given he is more of a known quantity to them.
