As you guys are good at fixing stuff I thought I would ask here.....
It is a serious question. What materials would I need to construct a half pipe or ramps in our garden. Here is the page from eBay which shows some descriptions: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Ramps-Jumps-/91565/i.html
Can my husband make something cheaper than on there??

£14-£24 are for the cheap plastic ones. We have a decent sized garden so I am talking about something like this:

Which is on there at £1800 new. It looks doable enough but is there a metal structure underneath or is a wooden frame?
Or even something smaller like this:
I don't want to suggest it to my husband if it is not do-able. I am thinking that it might be nice for a Xmas present for DS instead of buying more plastic tat. We have a garden big enough, not sure how we would hide it from him but he is really into his BMX'ing and, while he has one, we do not have anywhere round here for him to practice stuff like this. Stuff like that is not £14 on eBay.
I think I'd prefer to have the handrails. While it seems ironic to say while jumping off stuff on a bike, I'd rather there be the protection for him from falling off the top.... Would the wood rot if left outside or does it need to be treated?
He does have a skateboard as well, what would be the minimum size (w x l) of ramp be for cycling?0 -
Loads of info here on making your own ramps http://www.diyskate.com/ramps.html - just be aware your garden will become a very popular destination for the local yoof!0
