As you only work 10hrs a week could you not get another part time job, that would still leave you time to look after your parents.

If either of your parents gets DLA middle rate or higher rate care or attendance allowance you can claim carers allowance if you care for them for a minimum of 35 hours a week. Then you have a choice of carrying on working your ten hours a week which is allowed alongside or giving them up and claiming Income Support as well. All depends on your parents care needs as demonstrated in the benefits they receive though.

If either parent gets DLA middle or high care component or attendance or constant attendance allowance, then you can claim carers allowance and Income support.....

But if they get a severe disability premium they will lose that if you claim carers allowance.

There would be no point claiming Income Support unless you stop working.

I'm more bothered by "the car I drive comment"

I always thought this was for the disabled person - not any random family member to use. They indicate the pay the tax on "their" car!

I stumbled on this thread while looking for info on Attendance Allowance.

  • So we appear to have had a surprise resurrection from the dead of the father.

    Well spotted.

  • Definitely a troll... rather funny one at that given they're issuing abuse about people not paying taxes or cheating the system in the other thread and come here to advertise they're doing it themselves contrary to impression given in that thread. Oh well we look forward to the next AE as threatened in the other thread... to wind people up.
