Travel Money Cards

Hi,

I'm going away in oct to New York then Florida. I want to get a travel money card but unsure about which one to get??? I had my mind set on the Post Office one but I've read some bad reviews and now I'm confused. Has anyone used these cards in USA? Any tips and advice would be really appreciated

Thanks

We have a post office credit card, and I'm sure we used it in America 3 years ago. We don't get charged for spending on it abroad, so we use that card for any purchases/hotels/petrol but also have had a cash globe passport to withdraw money to use for everyday spends.
  • Sorry I dont think I explained myself was after getting a travel money card and not the post office credit card : )

There's a tonne of review sites that are well worth a look at.
    http://www.moneysupermarket.com/prepaidcards/ - Look at the US$ tab.
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-travel-money - A more general look at travel money. Note that pre paid cards aren't usually the best way of getting your money. There are debit cards with no overseas cash withdrawal fees, no load fees and no handling fees at the Visa/Mastercard exchange rate. So when you find a cash machine without charges you can take out your money for free at what is probably the best exchange rate.
http://www.money.co.uk/prepaid-cards.htm - Another run down of the best pre paid cards.

    Hope that helps a bit.

Take note that we both mentioned the GLOBE card.

The Kalixa card is the best option if you buy via a Cashback website, pay via Bank Transfer and make large cash withdrawals(equivalent of £150 or more).
