Dla rant

Hi
I had a decision regarding my dla claim and was turned down, basicly the letter informed me that i was lying about my conditions etc. not true, i called them today was told could be my age as people who get
What i had are rare and over 70 years of age not 26.As i had the letter saturday i called them today and someone is going to call me from the reconsideration dept?
Does anyone know what these people ask? Are they another DM As the woman i spoke to said me that with the info i give over the phone they may make a decision there and then?
I do not visit my gp because if i feel unwell my gp informed me to go straight to hospital. Eg i had a nose bleed, made an appointment at the gp, got told to go to the hospital asap for tests. I went my INR was 6.9. The nurse, doctor and gp told me if i have any problems go straight to hospital as my blood is unreliable which could lead to dammage so if i get ill i have to go straight to the hospital. So my gp only deals with dispensing my medication. My surgeon has sent a letter to my gp saying not to change medication at all without his consent.
So the report sent from my gp goodness knows what has been said but it has been taken into consideration. Also when i spoke to my gp, i was told the receptionists deal with DWP forms. Can they do this?
Sorry about the rant thanks for reading

This may sound like a stupid question, but do you have mobility and care needs? DLA is not based on diagnosis but based on whether you have problems getting around and whether you need help with care.2019 Wins

No not a silly question, honestly i do. I cannot walk far. I cannot stand on uneven surfaces without help. Not able to get in/out of the bath on my own as i fall all the time.cannot go up and own stairs all the time as i fall. Cannot bend down as i fall onto the floor. Even simple thing like going to the toilet for example i fell over nothing an landed head first in the tub. I cannot read stationary signs as they look like thEy are moving. Im on water tablets so i have to stay upstairs in the mornings as its a struggle with the stairs.
Cardiac rehabillitation have told me to stop driving etc as i am a hazzard. Also i have been asked not to attendbrehab as i am not well enough.
I feel like there is no end to this horror:(0 -

I was really worried incase I would offend you with my question. It's just that there are those out there who don't realise that DLA is for care and mobility needs and not diagnosis so I just wanted to check.:o
Unfortunately, I can't really help you but if your GP tells you to go to the hospital whenever anything arises with your condition, then the hospital should get in touch with your GP when you've been discharged each time and it should be on the system at your GP surgery so your GP should have access to how often you're at the hospital etc.
It's always a good idea to keep your GP informed though, even if by letter.
Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for you as I'm one of the extremely lucky ones and I've never had to fight for DLA but I know that there are a few knowledgeable users who post on this board who will be able to help you.

Im pretty thick skinned me lol. I know some people take the preverbial a little when it comes to dla. When i do go the hospital they always admit me as a patent and afterwards i have a letter and a pink slip to give to my gp to say i have been to the hospital and what was wrong wiith me etc.0 -
When DLA do a reconsideration all they do is pass your forms onto a different decsion maker to take a look and re assess. If they agree with the intial decsion you can appeal. If they wrote to your GP your GP might not know all your facts with regards to your care and mobility needs as you say you only get your meds from them, if your consultants are aware they should of sent letters to your GP after every hospital appointment. Sometimes though if your diagnosis does'nt usually come with known care or mobility needs the DLA will refuse. If you have falls etc you should of been referred to several other departments. I regulary see occupational theraphy, the falls team and physio as well as my specialists, and with the problems you list this is what should of been done for you.0

Just a point about the GP report, it's not what you might think. They don't sit and write about you in detail, it's just a form which asks about medication, diagnoses, and has small boxes for general questions like whether you have problems with self care.
It's not much more than a tick box form.
I recently had to ask for a reconsideration after they cut my DLA from HRM/HRC to LRM only. I sent in letters from everyone involved in my care (GP, outreach worker etc), and it was reinstated.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Where it asks on the DLA form if there is anyone they can contact who knows your condition, did you give details of how to contact your consultant?
Gather as much information as you can about those you have had contact with, in case you do need to appeal but, hopefully, there will be enough information for the reconsideration, if you are entitled due to care / mobility needs.
As an aside, I regularly fall, lose balance, have issues whenever there is a change of gradient, and DLA was awarded.
You can ask for an occupational therapy visit, who then may be able to assist with aids in the home to help prevent falls - I have things such as a scandia toilet frame, which helps prevent falls due to the handles each side, etc.

Whilst this is true the decision maker is required to consider attention (care) that is reasonably required.
The OP may not feel it reasonable to wear continence pads all the time (dignity issue - that case law has supported), or may not be able to due to skin irritation, or may not be able to wash himself regularly - which is important when wearing these - without assistance.
I think it is important to request an OT assessment as these tend to give a unique insight into the difficulties experienced and why and what aids or adaptations are reasonably available for use - very helpful to decision makers.0 -
