Please help: Stolen phone insurance claim

I was pickpocketed for my black iPhone 4s at a music event in London. It wasn't ideal but I felt comforted by the fact it was insured. I reported it to the police but have just gone on my insurers website (protect your bubble) and have found that it will be rejected if not posted within 24 hours. Absolutely distraught is there any way of negotiating around this in order to make sure my claim goes through any help whatsoever would be appreciated more than you'll ever know.

  • If you have reported it to the Police promptly when you discovered the loss and got a crime number then it is unlikely that the insurer would reject the claim.

If they do you can complain.

If they still reject you can go to the Financial Ombudsman Service - which will consider if the rejection is fair and reasonable in the circumstances.

I reported it within 30 rather than the 24 hours they describe in their policy do you thnk it will still be considered?

If they dont then I doubt the FOS would back them on it- they tend to only back insurers on time limits where it makes a material difference to the claim.

The bad thing about this is that it will take a long period of time to go through them, so you will likely need to speak nicely to your insurers first.
  • Thank you both so much
