Viber app

Going away soon, and was thinking of downloading this app so i can stay in touch with family whilst i'm away

Has anyone got and used this app and what is your opinion on it.

I (and some family members) have it. I'm on Android. It's excellent, far clearer than over the 'cell' network, though can sometimes be echoey (depends on handset maybe). One thing is that it doesn't run automatically, so if you restart your phone and someone tries to call on viber, they won't get you, make sure you run it. I also found that the ringtone (for calls or IM) isn't very loud so keep your phone close.

Thank you for that, i'm going to turkey, so my phone will be switched off most of the time, (not risking getting roaming charges), so i will just be switching my phone on and using it to phone home via viber and send some messages via whatsapp

Make sure you just use wifi hotspots then
