Hi everyone I know this thread is about food shopping but I would like to know how much do you spend on things like cleaning products , washing powders etc and also toiletries? Do you also stick to a budget per week on these things too ? These things seem to be quite expensive but like everything else we need them. Have not quite finished reading this thread will do later , I seem to spend to much on food so will be using ideas on here to see if I can cut down on the amount I buy ( and ashamed to say ) throw out.

Thank you can you tell me what you use seasalt for and where do you buy the sea soap from? You are 100% dedicated to shopping and I admire that I on the other hand am 100% lazy when it comes to shopping! but will now check out the pound shop

If you go to Lidl, you can but most things for a lot less than in the main stores. And even the main stores do things like a litre of basic shampoo for 40-50p.

For household cleaning get hold of washing soda and stardrops. Add a decent washing up liquid most of your requirements are covered. Basics cola make good toilet cleaner but you need to push most of the water out with the loo brush first.

Hi RAS , will also check out lids also. I live in a hard water area so have to use limelite a few times a week but will try star drops , I have tried the cheaper shampoo but find we use to much as to much comes out at once , I use tresseme but only buy it when it's on special offer and buy 2 as I do when sanex is on offer( so maybe there is a money saver lurking about somewhere) I meant lidls not lids .

Be careful of the pound shops as they are not always a better deal, I've seen several people on the forum saying they have been caught by assuming they were the cheapest but actually with offers and stuff other places are cheaper. Eg Tesco's have Radox on BOGOF at £1.50 so cheaper than paying a pound for 1

Agreed; there are definitely some bargains to be had at some £1 shops but I see a number of cases where they are more expensive (like kilo sugar for £1 instead of 69p (cheapest recently) or 89p regularly.
