Insurance for a house a relative lives in

Hi all.

I own the house my parents live in, does any one know off the top of their heads who might offer standard terms for this rather than a landlords policy.
No tenancy agreement and no rent paid.
Thanks in advance
Happily an ex mortgage broker!

Is this a house that your parents previously owned and has been signed over to you (for whatever reason)?

If so, do they have a lifetime interest in the property?

If this is the case, you might try some of the over 50's companies who specialise in these circumstances , Saga, RIAS, Castle, etc.

If it's a house that you have always owned you may need to get a landlords policy.
  • Try direct line, churchill, nw/rbs. Should be treated as a normal policy.

I am in a similar situation with my daughter and her family living in a house I own.
    I insure with Direct Line.
