It might be wise.historybuff wrote: »Should I ring them again as it is now 6 months since the claim was passed as successful.0 -
Yes I think I will ring tomorrow and find out what is happening. My mum was delighted when we heard that we were successful but now think this has gone on long enough. Anyone else have any idea how long before payment is made?0

You have already been told they are working through a backlog of cases. Ask them what the timescale is likely to be when you call them. If they are non-committal, expect a long wait.historybuff wrote: »Anyone else have any idea how long before payment is made?0 -
We received our payment approx 10 weeks after agreeing a settlement figure. You need to check they are paying the interest at the higher of the 2 calculations. I also made a claim for expenses/time/inconvenience etc which I had to put in writing and they offered me a further £500 pounds.
I was advised the payment would be made in 7-10 days and had to chase all the monies, payment was made from India! only when I advised them I was taking the matter up with the Ombudsman was a BACS transfer made.0 -
We have not yet received a settlement figure and how do you know what rate of interest they pay. Do they inform you of the rate of interest when they send you the settlement figure?0

Yes, you should receive a thorough breakdown of the recompense.historybuff wrote: »Do they inform you of the rate of interest when they send you the settlement figure?
Do be aware that you may well be receiving redress from an entirely different local authority than the one which user "margf" has. So treat any other experience as only a general guideline.0 -
We were informed of the interest calculation when they confirmed the payment they would be making albeit they had calculated it at the lower option which I pointed out to them and they corrected the settlement figure. The interest was paid up to the date of the offer. Somewhere on this forum there are posts that explains the options or you could read the section in this document I think it is around page 11

It really is incredible that these deliberate delays are being tolerated. MPs are aware of what's going on (but do nothing), as is the relevant Ombudsman service.
It's pretty obvious that the intention is to cause such long delays that people (and the people making the claims) die to cut down costs. And also to dissuade anybody from bothering, or pursuing matters.
I'm surprised that no organisation with the power to bring pressure to change this (Martin Lewis, Age Concern, a daily newspaper, Which? or something similar) has made any serious attempt to embarrass and shame the government into getting it sorted out. There's clearly no political will, but surely somebody might get some kudos for resolving this?

I doubt he ever did after the very early years....but there are still reporting mechanisms in place.Moneyineptitude wrote: »...no longer has any active involvement in this site and certainly won't read forum posts.
