dla tax credits increase?

Our son has just been awarded high rate care and low rate mobility disability living allowance. We have informed the tax credits office of this change but are now wondering if our income will affect our entitlement to the disability element? my husband works full time £21,700 approx - I am not working.

As he gets high care dla you will get the severe disability premium on your tax credits so inform them of the date he was awarded from asap as they don't backdate for long.

DLA is not means tested, so if you mean will you get a lower amount of tax credits because you have more income due to DLA, the answer is no. In fact, you should now receive more, because there is a disabiulity element of CTC for children in receipt of DLA. If they receive high rate care, as your son does, there is an additional severe disability element which is paid on top.

You may also qualify for Carer's Allowance (quite likely if your child gets HRC and you are not working.
