Section 75 - Protecting One's Self from Christmas Market Cancellation

Wondering if anyone out there can help me. I am looking at trading at Lincoln Christmas Market its costing over £3k for the pitch. Two years ago this event was cancelled at the last minute due to the extreme weather and it was unclear whether traders would get refunds. Luckily we did. However now in the contract it is written in that if the event is cancelled due to terrrorism, bad weather etc you will not get a refund.

Does anyone know if I pay just a portion of the cost by my credit card am I covered under section 75 of the Consumers Act if the event is cancelled to safeguard my £3k+?? and pay the remainder out of my savings. Or do you think I should take out insurance which costs about £100?? Its a difficult one but want to know what to do for the best. Any Comments welcomed.:o:rudolf::rudolf::xmassmile

You'll probably struggle with a Section 75 claim if they've now included a clause regarding cancellation caused by bad weather. No-one can guarantee the outcome of a Section 75 claim so personally, i'd pay the insurance.

S75 does not cover business transactions - so your claim would fail immediately.
If you are offered insurance I would take it!
