Item's received, partial refund received but seller wants to cancel transaction?

hi there, I bought two identical reversing cameras for my van in one transaction. They arrived and one had a defect so it was replaced without any issue.

When they were installed I had a further defect in the wiring of one of the items where the cable melted. The fuse i installed stopped any major problem. :j The ebay seller was unable to provide a replacement cable so rather than uninstall and return the item for replacement I made a running repair, cut out the old cable and replaced it so that it now works okay.

They offered a refund which I accepted and have received, BUT now they have cancelled the transaction in ebay for both the items but with no comments. I am guessing they are doing to this so save selling fees?

Is there any risk to me in just accepting the cancellation?
Thanks
Sam

None whatsoever. It doesn't affect history of sale or feedback ability. It is as you say a way for the seller to recoup their fees.

It also means you won't be able to leave feedback. I would be a bit wary if one was faulty and one of the cables melted.

A mutual does not mean that feedback cannot be left.

It does not affect feedback. All it does is ensure the seller get their fees back.
  • Thanks, I am happy to let them recoup some costs. I had already left +ve feedback for the way they had dealt with previous issue as the one that was not faulty worked a treat. I had not expected there to be a problem with the replacement, but things happen with electronics and they have been positive in the approach they have taken.
