Just write a letter of complaint, mention

    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/ombudsman-news/54/insurance.htm

if they don't offer a better price, refer it to the FOS as a complaint.

    Thanks all for the advice.

Ill ring them later on this morning and again tell them how the cost is unwarranted and ask for an itemized breakdown of why that is the price.

    I called several times today.

Always put on hold for ages, or told he would call me back. Eventually I called and got through to him,

I requested the itemized statement to say exactly what makes the price £142.20. And he response was "I told you, the 10% annual premium charge". Yet I dont see this in the terms I read online.

He has told me if I want to go down this route I need to send it in letter form. So off to write a letter I go.

They are a nasty company, make sure your letter states you are looking to cancel within the 14 day cooling off period and thus require them to use the 14 day cooling off period rates when they have resolved the problem.

They will try and hang it out so you're beyond the 14 days and higher rates kick in.

If you're inclined to cancel anyway, I would be inclined to cancel and then query all their fees afterwards.

    They need bringing to book

    Thanks for all the advice.

So, Ive now paid them £199, and should have received £56.80 back as a refund but still havent yet.

Today I got a letter from them that said they can confirm my policy is now canceled and have managed to agree a total cancellation fee of £92.40.

Do you think I should settle for this, or argue and try get it lower still?
