Pushchairs in small spaces

Options
What is it with some women and their pushchairs? I was looking around our local BHF shop today, its a very small space and it is always packed with stuff.

In comes the mother with pushchair, three kids on foot and not forgetting the obligatory Iceland bags hanging off the pram. She then proceeds to barge her way through the shop, expecting every one to move out her way.

I ended up pushed up against a bookshelf, face on. The shelf and I almost had an intimate moment as I had to practically grind against it to let pushchair et al past. One elderly lady got knocked against one of the clothes rail and it almost winded her.

As she's barging her way through, she's complaining that the shop isn't 'f*****g' big enough (her exact words) and everybody has to 'f*****g move out her way.

Then the kids ran riot.

What is it with these people? Can't they see that the shop isn't suitable for them? And why do they think it is there god given right to push through a shop and expect everyone to move out there way? And why do they let their children behave in such a manner?

I just don't understand the mentality of some people.

Several shops in my local town now have a sign outside saying 'no pushchairs'. I think a lot more should follow suit.

Im not sure thats a realistic answer. The more appropriate solution would be that people using pushchairs use more consideration.

I push my 2 month old and use great care when in shops and would find it horrible to be not allowed in due to unfair stereotyping. Do these shops allow wheelchairs in? as they often the same size as pushchairs (if not bigger) and less agile.

It would probably be more effective if they had a sign saying 'No benefit claimants'!

I was in baby r us at the weekend with my pregnant daughter while we were looking at travel cots in an aisle halved by a display all the way down the middle. We were looking at a cot and were near the top of the aisle when a couple with a pram appeared and procceded to shift myself and very preganant daughter back into a display of boxes of nappies, i use 2 walking sticks and ended up pushing the nappy display over and falling into my daughter. The couple did'nt even look in my direction or apologise, or even give me time to walk all the way to the other end. A shop assistant asked them politly if next time they would use some manners and give other people some consideration.. She got a big f...off for her trouble. God help that poor baby of theirs.

That is exactly what I am getting at. They genuinely believe that because they have a pushchair and a working uterus, that they have the right to treat people as if they are invisible.

And to think they kiss their children with that potty mouth!

I think that the buggies and pushchairs that they use today are far too big!! when i was little my mam had a small stripey canvas buggy to push me in, and it was a heck of a lot easier to manouvre!!

And don't get me started on pushchairs on buses.

A lot of elderly, frail people use our local bus service - including my old Mum - and they often have to try and either squeeze past the things or literally clamber over them in the aisle.

Surely the point of pushchairs is that they collapse down to go on public transport etc?

    Lol...Made me chuckle.
While we are at it....whats with the pushchair in the aisle of a cafe or restaurant? Either use the provided highchairs (wipe first with a baby wipe) or remove a chair and push in the Pushchair and ask a staff member to remove the chair?pushchair. It's not rocket sience....
But we do need to remember there are still good thoughtful pushchair drivers out there.
