2 weeks ago I set up a policy that had to be cancelled yesterday due to having the wrong start date (not my mistake) .The policy was to be paid monthly but when I tried to set up a new policy I was told I couldnt do it unless I paid in full due to failing the credit check .Nothing has changed in 2 weeks so I really cant understand why this has happened  are there any specific insurers that will allow monthly payments if you have a bad credit rating .I must add that I have never missed a payment on any car insurance policy ever ,I have always made sure they got paid

Who was it that now declined you?
Generally the bigger direct insurers that offer their own credit for insurance are less picky but some of these instead are using credit rating in their pricing so they may get you another way0 -
sorry ,it was the same company that accepted me 2 weeks ago ,hastings direct0

Hi estimagal,
Thanks for posting about your experience. Our credit checking system would not normally return different results for the same Customer in such a short space of time. I would like to offer my help and look into this for you if you like? In order to do so I would need some policy details, email me at socialmedia@hastingsdirect.com

Hastings have refused me insurance due to my credit rating. They're the only company that have done so and I was with them for a few years up until 2011 when I changed to Swinton. This year I tried to go back to Hastings and they won't take me unless I pay in full.
Not sure why my credit rating is a problem this year when it wasn't before. My financial situation and credit score have gotten better over the last few years.Lightbulb moment: August 2007. Debts totalling £15,634.

Didnt owe them money from a previous policy did you?
They wont refuse you insurance on your credit rating. Only paying in installments.
Missed any installments on ANY insurance policy if the past 5 years?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
HI Jamie ,I have got insurance now but thanks for your offer
Mandoo -sheilas wheels and esure wouldnt accept monthly payments but they were consistant from the start ;-)
Forgotmyname ,no I have never been insured with them before ,I have never missed any insurance payments ever ,I have 4 children who I take to school daily (5 miles away) its not something I can ever miss a payment on and never have done ,where I live you have to have a car just to get groceries. HD did offer me the option to pay in full but if I had had the funds to do that I wouldnt have been insuring with them inthe first place ;0)
I have insurance now so all's well ,big upfront payment but the sale of my old car covered that :-/ and very manageable monthly payments :-D0
