Cheque made out to new-born

Hi,

My new born son recieved a cheque for 1k when he was born. The cheque is made out in his name.

I've opened up a Junior ISA in his name with Scottish Friendly BS.

I want to deposit the 1k into the Junior ISA but Scottish Friendly tell me the cheque needs to be made out to "Scottish Friendly Asset Manager" in order to be deposited.

Whats' the simplest way for me to do this without asking the person who raised the cheque initially to change the name ?

Does this building society offer any other accounts you could open for your son e.g. a standard young saver account which you can pay the cheque into?

Once it has cleared you can then either transfer it to their ISA or get them to make a cheque out?

Is the Scottish Friendly Junior ISA a cash or investment ISA as you can invest in each. If it's cash what rate are they paying you, I know Halifax offer 6% on theirs provided you hold a cash ISA with them too from £1 upwards.

Open a savings account at any local bank or BS and deposit the cheque.

Once the cheque clears, you can then ask for a cheque made out however you want.

Scottish Friendly is not a Building Society. It's a Friendly Society offering only Stocks & Shares Junior ISAs.

Friendly Societies have in the past, at least, not generally been liked on this forum for poor fund performance and high charges.

I'm wondering whether you have already funded the Junior ISA. If not .....

I had a bond with them for my daughter and they just aren't very good. I now have Nationwide ISAs for both my children.
