Please help. Bad credit/joint accounts?!!!!!

OH and I are moving in together. I earn quite a bit less than him, and we have different amounts of personal bills.

However, OH has said he doesn't mind pooling our money together, which is great, as otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford moving in together.

The only problem is I have 2 defaults, and as such a bad credit rating. He has a pristine credit rating.

I'm aware that by getting a joint account, our credit ratings will be linked and as such his credit rating would suffer.

However, we would like an account with 2 cards so that we can just put all the money in and back out of one place.
I've literally got no ideas at all, could anyone help please?

Debt so far: Natwest Overdraft -
[STRIKE]£1250[/STRIKE] £0, Barclays Overdraft - £1500
, Abbey Overdraft -
[STRIKE]£750[/STRIKE] £0, Car finance - £3000 :(

Forget about the cards you'll be lucky to even get a current account with defaults and you defiantly won't get an OD.
  • Not an official line and you have to trust him but - have him open a second account with a debit card and have access to his online banking.

you use his second account but have online access to his first.

    Effectively a joint account.

I know of one couple who have done this for three years

Only really easy with chip and pin since so few places actually check the name and the person these days

I'm not sure if what they're on effects it - ones on a phone bill with orange, the other with santander.
Either way I'm with Barclays and have extended my overdraft in the past few months. I really dont know a lot about defaults.

Thanks a lot! I was thinking either this, or put everything in his card and have him dish whats left 50:50 between us, but I think your idea is more failsafe

Just be warned - the MSE zealots will come back saying this is totaslly against the T&Cs (true) and thats its potentially fraud (true) but the chances of anyone being bothered unless the BF says something - negligible

Consider what would happen if - god forbid - the two split up. With nothing in writing, it could get very nasty.
