Help With Credit Report...

Morning guys and girls.

I'm having a bit of trouble with my credit report, and the information its showing.

We moved house in April and joined the elctoral role at the new address. We're been on since May. When you log into Equifax, they have a colour coded system for the various areas on the credit file i.e. name, elctoral roll, credit agreements etc.

When we log in, the area associated with the electoral roll is red, indicating there is a problem. It's the same for my husband.

We've contacted Equifax but the person we spoke to said that the warning would remain for 12 months as we'd only just joined the electoral roll! She also said we should not apply for credit as we would not get anything for the next 12 months! She was actually quite rude about it.

All that aside, does anyone know if this is true? We'd only planned to stay in our current house for the minimum 12 months, but now i'm wondering if moving is a good idea?!

It's impossible to be so black and white.
    Lenders have their own criteria.
Moving about is definitely not good for your credit rating, but I don't think many people would plan their living accomodation around getting a good credit rating.
A warning is just that. It's up to lenders to decide whether they want to lend to you or not. It's not up to Equifax, they are only presenting information to you.

Electrol role as said can be a problem but if you have a long previous address this would be a positive.
  • I was on the ER for about 6 years at my mums address, then 2 and half at my last address, then we've just joined at our new place. I'm hoping it's going to be ok, I have a CC that is coming to the end of it's 0% BT so i want to take out a new card and transfer the balance.
