please bear with me as I don't really understand how all this works but I'm posting this on behalf of my daughter.
She is 20 and passed her driving test on November 11th ( or maybe the 10th lol ) last year , this year she will be 21 on December 12th.
Obviously she has to renew her car insurance in November but wanted to take advantage of the fact that it will go down after her 21st birthday. She also doesn't want to have to find a deposit if she changes car insurance companies ( as if she stays with the one she's with then she won't have to ) is there anything she can do ?? not sure that actually makes sense to anyone , but I know what I'm trying to say

Has she actually got quotes for her being 20 and 21 yet? What was the "saving", if any?
She can renew with her current company without paying a deposit ok but if she cancels the policy after a month, sets up a new one with the direct debit she will have to pay 2 months up front.
Make sure she reads the policy and terms of business of the broker and company as there will be cancellation charges if she does cancel mid term. Some may a pro-rota time on risk charge but some charge a percentage.
Make sure you read the policy first otherwise the cost saving will be cancelled out with the cancellation charges."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
thank you x I think she has been getting quotes and there is quite a saving. I think hubby is going to ring them this week to see what they say , its just so annoying for the sake of a month she may have to pay a higher premium for another year0

If there is a good saving with the same company, I would give them a call and confirm the time of risk charge and see if they will start a new policy without having to pay another deposit for the d/d, but they are not very helpful at the best of times!"Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0
