Is it possible for me to get this Default off? It shows as 'Defaulted' and 'satisfied' on my credit report. Apart from this is I have a very healthy credit score
Quite simply no. You offered them a settlement less than the balance owed, they accepted your offer but what they have entered on your report is factually correct, you defaulted on a credit obligation (sadly lenders don't take into account illness or hard times as an acceptable excuse). You settled that default some time later and they have entered this on your file.
The default will drop off after 6 years and will have less impact over time prior to that point. I can symphathise with you as this is exactly what happened to my wife before I met her and she has been rebuilding her credit ever since but is slowly getting there with cards like Capital One and Barclaycard credit builders.
Good luck.0
