PPI Claim - Morgan Stanley/ Barclays now Ombudsman

Hi all,

I dont know if this tale is familiar with anyone but wondered if it is, perhaps you could let me know what I'm getting into and any help would be appreciated.

I contacted Barclays back in June of this year after finally finding my old Morgan Stanley card details of which I was sure there was a PPI connected to it. After dealing with a very helpful chap, he told me that there was over 10years worth of PPI on this credit card and that he normally heard that these are the ones which are successful in payouts. I thanked him for his time and waited.

A few days later, a letter arrived asking me to fill out this questionnaire for a few more details about my complaint. I duly did so and returned it back to them.

I got a letter from them a few days ago saying that this complaint was not being upheld as I chose this option on line - how could I do this when I wasn't online 10 years ago!!!! It was Barclays that took over Morgan Stanley and it was their "advisor" who pressured me into the PPI monthly payments as "it would look after me should anything go wrong".

I've now contacted the Ombudsman as I'm furious the way this has been handled and when I called Barclays to let them know that I was far from satisfied about this, their attitude stank - surprisingly, there was no details on their system about a call I got advising me to take the PPI out - basically its my word against theirs.

Having spoken to the Ombudsman, the chap felt that it could go either way as he has heard many stories like this and aren't successful. It may take up to 12months before I hear anything!

Is there another way of doing this, or has anyone encountered a situation like mine and won? Have I done the right thing contacting the Ombudsman or am I wasting their and my time?

I would love to hear anything from anyone to keep my hopes alive.

Thanks
