Wow, that is an horrendous amount, I hope I don't end up having to pay excesses as well as %ages as well.
I have always read good reports on here about Pet plan, being expensive initially, but then not putting the premiums up as bad as the others as they got older, I didn't realise any of this about the premiums, excesses and %ages.
Perhaps I did make the best choice in Sainsbury's after all as although the premiums have gone up considerablly, I have not, up to now, had to pay any extra excesses or %ages. Time will tell perhaps.0 -
Zara's insurance (Argos Platinum) is about £48 per month now and I am dreading the reneval at the end of October...
But her hip replacement was paid for (£5700 at FR and over £500 Xrays at the referring vet) and she will need the other one done too so.....
Can not imagine not having my lot insured... sigh...0 -
I cannot remember who is with Sainsburys for insurance - if you are considering going with them, these reviews might give you some food for thought: http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews57563.html
There are reports of their being a £125 excess or 15%. Do not be tempted to think you are getting a better deal if you are not paying an extra % excess on an elderly dog - they will get you somewhere along the way.0 -

It was me who has a dog with Sainsbury's, I've just read several of the reviews in the link. I have to say that I have not had any problems making claims so far, they have paid up very quickly, direct to the vet.
I think it seems whichever company you are with, they are going to get their money back somehow. Petplan used to get good comments on here until recently and I
had regretted not going with them but it seems they have a high excess plus a %age.
Unfortunately, it seems that we don't find out the pitfalls until it is too late and they have us cornered with nowhere we can go.0
