My hubby was driving last saturday and on the controlled roundabout car behind us hit us ,there were no damage to his car but to ours ,after we took his plates nr ,no name or anything ,we took pictures and drive off.We dont want to clime insurance but we want the guy to pay for a repair ,is it possible and how .

You need to trace the owner's insurer (use askmid - will cost £4).

Then approach them and see if they have an innocent third party claims dept who will deal with your claim.

If they won't help you, you might consider using a claim handler.

You can ask him to settle off the insurance, But if you or he contact either insurance.

You both need to report it, Which you should do anyway of course..

You cannot force him to settle outside the insurance, And its likely to increase your premiums for a while, Even though your were not at fault.

Its still an incident that needs to be declared.

Again if he has contacted his insurance you need to contact yours ASAP.

You dont want them to cancel your policy for non disclosure.

Google to find claim handlers. If there is no dispute over liability they will deal with the third party, and manage your claim eg. arrange your repairs and a replacement car if needed.

Did you exchange name and address with the other driver as required by law? If not - then you MUST report this to the police as soon as possible.

Firstly - because the law says you must
and
secondly - because if the other driver tries to make a claim against you and says you drove off without stopping, it doesn't look very good for you if you don't have their details and you didn't report it to the police.
