A question.

Not sure if I have posted in the right thread or not. If not please feel free to move it.

Okay, so I need some advice on something that is troubling me, well, a few people I know really.

Basically we know someone who, because of a criminal record, is NOT allowed to work with children, or vulnerable adults.

However, we have recently found out that they are doing just that. Under a different name to which the criminal record is in. We don't know where they are working. But we know the name they are working under.

Basically, is there anything we can do to bring this to someones attention. And if so who?! Do we contact the police? The job centre (as far as we are aware they are recieving benefits under original name)?

We feel like people are at risk, and would never forgive ourselves if anything happened and we could have stopped it.

Some advice woud be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

This feels quite important. If you are certain and feel worried, the first call would be the Police or actually on second thought, maybe CRB unit?

Not as easy as I thought....maybe the Police will have a number to their national data unit?

Certainly worth asked the Police to fair on what is best to do...please if you sure, do something

You have to report it. Do not even worry about ignorant people who use the term "Dobbing in", because that is very often used by criminals to make others feel guilty.
This is an important matter, and you have to do the right thing - just in case.
  • We have a community police hub near us so may pop in there and ask them. The person in question is well known to them there as well. The person in question posts all over the internet that they are working doing a certain job that involves vulnerable people. I could try and find out for definate. That might help more.

I tried to Google CRB data base but there are so many. I never knew that but I still assume the Police will have information on this, it is your best bet

Thank you for your help. We were stuck with what to do. Knew we needed to do something but wasn't sure what :)

I think I would try the non-emergency police number. If that's not the right place, I imagine they'd be able to tell you who to contact.

Community police hub also sounds good :)

  • If you are fairly sure of this info.... then yes, you need to inform the police - nobody else can "do" anything. Call the non-emergency number 101....explain the situation to them. Leave it in their hands. You certainly need to do something. In fact, you have a moral duty to do something with the information that you have talked about. Don't leave it a few days - do it NOW. The phoneline is manned 24/7 so you will be able to speak with someone.

TBH, if you know that someone who shouldn't be working with children or vulnerable adults is working with them, it should be reported immediately.

If they've changed their name to do this, then it's even more urgent to report your concerns.

If you really don't want to use 999, then use one of the other suggestions. Call crimestoppers or the non-emergency police number right now.

Offer to pop into your local community police hub to talk things over in more detail, if they want. But report your concerns right now.

I know I keep saying 'right now'. But, seriously, it is that important for anyone who has information like this to report it straight away.

you report it to the local police, crimestoppers, Social Services and anyone else you can think of. at least One of them will investigate and by reporting to several different agencies the chances of them 'slipping through the cracks' are reduced substantially.
You cannot do nothing hun. and by making a few phone calls you could prevent a tradegy.
