Credit card credit check

Further to my last post, of opening a current account with chequebook & overdraft. if I did apply for a credit card would it be the same credit check, as online you can type in your bank account security number that lists you as an existing customer.
Does this make the checks any easier, or is it still the same stringent checks, Thanks

if it's with the same company they'll do the same test on you (I think?) if with another company they'll do a different test on you.
