no sound when recording from sky

don't record very often but since i got a new telly and somebody set everything up for me when i record summat with dvd recorder via sky there is no sound.can somebody try and explain SIMPLY what might be the problem and how i can sort it? everything else works ok

    Well it's either a connection problem, do you know what connects the Sky box and DVD recorder? Also what is it you're recording, if it's Sky Movies or Sports they tend to have protection which prevents recording to external devices. I did try this once before, but the picture was distorted.

    Or it's just the wrong connections or broken wires.

    If you are using a scart connection make sure that the plug is in fully on both ends.

    ta for the advice.i can't for the life of me remember what scarts went where and i don't have sky sports or movies-just the freeview sky

    will check the scarts to see if owt is loose if not then maybe i need new ones.

    no loose scarts and as far as i can see there's a scart going from tv-sky box and scart going from sky box-dvd recorder
