Cheque Clearing

Hello there. First of all, hello!
Sorry if this has been dealt with elsewhere, but I couldn't find it. If I paid in a cheque on Thursday (it is now bank holiday monday, so there's only been 1 working day), and it shows in my list of transactions in my online account (with HSBC), will it be included in my Available Balance, or Balance? My Balance is a lot higher than my Available Balance, and I can't see anything due to come out of my account.
Thanks

In terms of working days, Day 1 you pay in. Day 2 at the clearing house. Day 3 at the drawer's bank/branch for payment. That means 6 working days to the Banks ........... !0

Thanks for the quick response! So, even though the cheque is showing in my list of transactions, it's still not included in my 'available balance'? Bit of a relief, as I thought I had about £300 coming out of my account that I was unaware of...0

With some banks, the cheque is shown on your account within hours or by the end of the working day.
Some banks may allow you to withdraw against a few days later, but it can still bounce until the 6th day.
So I wouldn't worry about an unknown £300 withdrawal just yet (unless the cheque was for something like £7.50
