Life Insurance Death Claim Query

Hello

My father recently passed away and we are in the process of sorting through his paperwork.

One of the documents we’ve found is a very old life insurance policy taken out by his mother (as Life Assured and Assured), which I presume was passed onto him as her next of kin.

As far as we are aware, my father did not claim the death benefit when his mother died.

In her capacity as the Personal Representative and Executor of his Estate, is my mother now able to claim the death benefit from this policy as part of his Estate?

Many thanks.
