Wood Preserver - quantity?

Hi, I've just had a new picket fence (3 ft high) installed round part of my front garden - it's about 25 yds long.

Can anybody give me an idea of how much wood preserver I should buy please - it is treated wood but I'd like to give it a coat of something a bit darker, and for a bit of extra protection.

Even better would be a 'home' recipe to save a few pennies!

Thanks.

Asda have 5ltr tubs of Cuprinol one coat on promo for £5 at the moment, there are 3 or 4 different colours.
On the tub it says it will cover 24 sq. mtrs or 8 fence panels 6'x5'.

Thanks for the info - sadly no Asda near me.

I'm not keen on using creosote - I thought it is one of those products banned for DIY by the EU, and as I have a cat I don't like the idea of using it in the garden.

OP said Creacote not creasote, it was developed after the ban and did away with the problem contents. Sold in Toolstation and B & M and many others. It is spirit based and so is much better in that it soaks into the wood instead of just coating it. I have just finished my shed with it and it looks a treat.
