Friends Provident shares

Hi, I am trying to help my gran who was given some shares in friends provident when they floated on the LSE in 2001.

I cannot find a share certificate but found a letter saying she had authenticated her entitlement and need not do anything.

She says she has never received a dividend payment for them. Does anyone know where I can start to find out any information.

Thanks

On 5 November 2009, Friends Provident was acquired by Resolution Limited.

    Thanks.

I have just phoned Equiniti and they are saying that she sold the shares as soon as they were listed, although she has said, she never did that.

The forms are still in the booklet so I know she never gave permission for them to be sold. Could possibly be held by the courts, so that is my next step.

  • I had shares in Friends Provident which was then bought out by Resolution. I was away from home when a letter from Resolution landed on my doormat saying that my Resolution Shares would be automatically sold unless I instructed them not to do so. As I was away I missed the deadline and the shares were sold for a pittance - I can't remember how much but I was disappointed. I was also a little cross that the timespan between writing to me and actually selling the shares was short. Had I have had time to react I would have kept the Resolution shares. I suspect your Resolution shares were automatically sold on your behalf a couple of years ago! Someone must have been sent the notifiation and subsequent cheque.
