Scam - received lux touch of europe shower cap not Converse shoes as ordered!

Need to warn all about the latest scam!

Ordered a pair of Converse shoes for darling daughter on line (£36.20 inc of delivery) with next day delivery Paid via paypal and money left account (and confirmed by Paypal) immediately BUT I did not receive a confirmation order from "shoes 365 buy". I sent 22 emails over the next week asking the company to confirm my purchase and talked to Paypal who were noit much help. I heard nothing.

After a month I received by recorded delivery from China - it was a 4cm square envelope!! It contained a disposable Lux Touch of Europe shower cap!

I had been conned. I googled asround and found many, many examples of this practice from a variety of similiar names chinese shoe supply companies.

The hustle is that when you receive and sign for the shower cap you actually received some goods from "shoes 365 buy" but the wrong goods. On opening a dispute with Paypal they contacted the seller who asked for the wrong goods to be returned via recorded delivery before refunding the £36.20 to me. THIS IS approx £30!! At this point many folk give in !

Not me - as a MSE member I badgered Paypal who finally agreed to simply refund the money and find against "shoes 365 buy".

Paypal are obviously full aware of this practice. This SITE IS UP AND GOING AND TAKING MONEY TODAY!

Can we do anything to protect others?

I don't understand why you would pay almost £40 for Cons from China (which are probably fakes anyway) when you can buy them online from the UK, and even on the high street for that price.

There are a plethora of websites that can assist with whether they are fake or not so check these before ordering, failing that post it in here and we will be able to advise

There is no clue on the site as to any physical connection anywhere. So your worst fears should guide your decisions.

One option might be to buy white shoes over here and dye them. I've known this being done before for a wedding where it was difficult to colour-match the shoes with the bridesmaids' dresses. I think most craft-type places (Hobbycraft, Creative Crafts, etc.) sell suitable dyes - or just Google the subject.

Best wishes. Sorry you got stung. x

You SIGNED for an envelope when you were expecting SHOES?

    Seriously?

In fairness OP hasn't said if they were expecting other things so it's not really a strange thing to sign for an envelope.

It would be helpful Valli - if you then withdrew your comment. When a postman thrusts a registered envelope in front of your face- its natural to sign for it as in this case it could have been a cheque.
