'Resigning' as Estate Administrator

My mother is Administrator for the estate of a relative. Everything is wrapped up financially now and all monies are ready for 'distribution', (there was no will & she did the application for Letters of Administration).

However, my mother does not want to deal with this any more (for various reasons). Does anyone know if another family member can step into her shoes and take on the responsibility officially.

What needs to be done to make this a proper transfer of the responsibility? Anyone know?

Thanks

    Thanks GF, very informative.

Temporarily I think we've made the best choice and we'll see if anything comes out in the wash (like a Will) for a while.
