Dixons Estate Agency - Cancellation Not Clear

Signed an agency agreement with Dixons on 21/08/12.
On the 22/08/12 cancelled as the specific house we could offer on had sold! (bad timing).
Emailed this through to our local branch as advised and they emailed back saying 'I have received your email and your property will be withdrawn from the market after the 14 days notice has expired'.
I have read the contract and it says that you have a right to cancel within 7 days of signing it (email cancellation acceptable). No mention of 14 days.
Can anyone help me to understand why they are being so awkward when all they have to do is cancel with immediate effect.
Also... When you are signing the contracts and they say 'please sign here, here & here. LOOK OUT... I signed the 'Performance of the contract proir to the expiry of the cancellation period' section. This means they can start advertising in the cooling off 7 day cancellation period. ie. you cannot then claim your money back.

I don't see the problem.
You no longer wish to sell your property.
Whether the agent advertises for another 14 days or not, you simply decline viewings.
