Thanks Takeaway, this opportunity will actually cost me to try and do it.
The other job had no prospects otherwise I would do it.

I would love to retrain and willing to start right from the beginning. However, I have to make sure it is right for the family.

Has your OH got any chance of flexibility in his work? Again though I would point out that you may just have swallow a loss for a few months, get the experience on the CV and move on to a better paid job.

No Takeaway, unfortunately he hasn't. The apprenticeship was for 18months things are tight as they are. I will just have to keep going with my little work at home jobs for another year until daughter gets free placement. I just crave adult company at times lol.

That's a shame and understandable you want adult company. Have you looked at clubs or groups you can join. I don't mean mum groups, I mean hobby groups which will have a range of demographics?

As regards the confidence issue and meeting adults have you thought about doing an evening course at college?

    Thanks Takeaway and pmlindy.
I am starting a photography course in Sept but it's only 8 weeks in the evening. But its a start lol.
I'm now debating a college course during the day and putting daughter in the creche attached. Will I only get funding on certain courses?
  • Have a look at local community centres - they often have courses and many are free. Our community centre has a creche as well.

Also, if you have a carer's centre near you, it's worth popping in and asking them for advice. They may know of local things that are on offer, including courses. Some have carer's grants and in my area it can be used to pay for studying.

I'm confused by your tax credits / WTC situation.

Does your OH work? Have you tried the calculators to see if you will get a proportion of your childcare paid for?

Hi, yes he works full time. It works out at 13.10 a week working tax if I work over 16 hours that was on www.entitledto.com.
    Why does this look wrong?

WTC is based on income - the requirement for a couple is 1 works more than 24 hours. Therefore you should already be getting WTC if entitled. your working should "lower" than figure.

But your CTC should increase for the childcare element.

Sorry just worked out. I had worked the initial figures on £28 per day childcare as found a childminder at that price. Although, I would prefer the nursery which is £36.00
