What to do with my utility room?

Hi all, I have a small utility room which houses my washing machine and dishwasher. The room just looks grubby and horrible. The worst part is next to the dishwasher. When we open the dishwasher after use steam occasionally releases which has left water droplet stains on the wall. The walls are brick with plasterboard and plaster. Normal emulsion has then been applied. We painted in again last year but already it looks terrible again.

I have considered having the room tiled but I am interested in all and any options.

I will try and get some pics shortly when find camera if my explanation does not make sense.

Below is the picture of the worst area. The dark marks are some chipped paint. This section of wall is right next to the dishwasher door.

1. Don't open the dishwasher until its completely finished what its doing.

2. Repaint the walls in a lighter colour that won't show the marks.

3. Repaint the walls with Dulux Endurance Range which is quite washable/scrubbable and so will not mark.
