Help! Speeding ticket!!

Hi
Please help!
I got a speeding ticket from a camera - doing 36 in a 30.
I am very heavily pregnant and was having cramps.
Not an excuse I know but was therefore wanting to pull over ASAP, and wasn't paying much attention to my speed!
So I'm guilty but should I inform the police and hope for understanding or just take it?
Any advice??
Also how do I go about contesting it?
Thanks
K

Go to PePiPoo website, complete the NIP wizard and go from there.

To be honest, take it on the chin, for that speed you will most likely be given the option of a driver awareness course, ok it will cost you £90 but no points or conviction as long as you attend.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

Just take it, being pregnant is not an illness, I never hear my Mum complaining of giving any of her 10 births, fingers crossed you may get the chance of a speed awareness course, with all the petty excuses you may have, they are equally applicable to if you should have been driving at all or really care about your unborn child, everybody speeds not everybody gets caught, some have from time to time, that day it was your turn :o

    and wasn't paying much attention
I'm not convinced the powers that be will be too impressed with a driver who says they weren't paying attention.
  • 36 in a 30 will get you a speed awareness course, provided you havent done one in the last three years.

The police are not interested in 'understanding' you at all. They need to make convictions to earn beany points to get funding.

They might even suggest that if you have been getting the cramps regularly then you maybe shouldn't have been driving.

(But good luck with the pregnancy, regardless of how the car thing goes...)

As you yourself admit that being pregnant is not an excuse then what would be your basis for contesting?

The only way to bring that up as mitigation is to go to court with the consequent risk of a higher penalty

Or they are just following their public duty as we all, rightly, expect them to and upholding the rule of law.
