Do they even excist ?
You know the ones , " We have conducted an extensive customer survey ...... blah blah " which showed the majority of our customers wanted a reduction of the amount of staff able to deal with .....blah blah !
Example ............. We travel with P&O Ferries on a regular basis to Belguim and Holland to visit friends , last year we find on a arrival at Hull that smoking is now not permitted within the Ships except on outside deck areas .................. apparentley this was because a , you guessed it ! , a customer survey showed the majority of people wanted this !
We never had a survey form , do not know anyone who travels on P&O that has had one !
Just to be clear , apparentley this Survey did not include P&O Cruise s where smoking is still permitted in inside areas provided , so sauce for the goose is not sauce for the gander ?
Please note this is not about smoking but about the use of "Surveys " so please do not start an anti smoking sideline to this post , thanks !
Have you been surveyed ? has customer service fallen after the "survey " ? would you believe the results ?
Note: 9 out of 10 readers of this post were surveyed ............
Results when we find what they were surveyed about :rotfl:
A Bast**d I May Be ! I Was Born One !
Whats Your Excuse ?

Aviva used to fiddle their customer surveys from brokers.

I always make a point of thanking someone if they have gone the extra mile and sorted a problem I had etc. Whenever I had given a big thank you the staff would ask if I would do a customer satisfaction survey basically how was our service today on a scale of one to ten. However whenever they gave normal service or could not help they never asked you to complete the survey.

Thus the only people asked to do the survey were the people who were very happy and likely to give high marks.

    I never trust these surveys
  • I've been surveyed a few times (but I do know someone who organises group surveys).

Best survey ever - I was 18, minding my own business in town when asked by a lady with a clipboard if I liked beer. I get taken to a room where several of us are asked to rate various beers and their new packaging.

Next best.. I was 27, was asked by 'friend who organises surveys' to go to one about robot vacuum cleaners. £150 for 2 hours of discussion, wicked!

    Public surveys ARE out there

I've certainly been asked several times to do surveys by businesses. So they definitely happen.

I imagine that people only disbelieve things when they haven't experienced them and don't like the outcome!

I've done surveys before. When I was a child outwith my aunt shopping we got asked to do one about trifles and they 'made' me eat one with cream which I hate - I was sick and ended up in tears!
As a teenager I got to taste a load of ice creams - that was great :)
A few years back another had us looking at packaging for DVDs
Not to mention the numerous surveys that you get asked to fill when you've been a customer of hotels, restaurants etc. And often there are links to surveys on receipts - the 'fill in this and enter our draw to win a voucher/wine/free dessert' type of thing. I find it hard to avoid surveys these days!

I regularly get stopped for surveys. just remember the only ones you hear about are those that reinforce the prejudice of the organisation funding them.

I suspect many of these surveys are just a ruse to collect your personal details for their next marketing campaign.

Just to add a little to the opening post. I dont know about the full fleet, but there is no smoking inside on at least 2 of P&O cruise ships, also, its a totally different company I believe.

Don't forget the online surveys. I'm registered on a couple of websites, get paid a pound or two to do them. Mostly they're to do with launching new products or rebranding though.

That's why I will only complete surveys undertaken by members of the Market Research Society. The sponsoring company doesn't receive any identifiable details of respondents.
