Mamzie, you said it for me too. I wanted this board to be more of a virtually anything goes - as long as it's not something that clearly fits elsewhere. So obviously we'd still want competitions posted on the main board, IWIWIW posted in that board. The only issue is that the name (what daft bird came up with that :o) attracts people to post for general financial advice as they access the website for that. So I think comping should be in the title, but we should welcome on-topic and off-topic posts from compers.

The best of all worlds is if folk can choose whether to post on this new board, or in the compers Inn. It doesn't really matter if there is a little overlap, in my humbles.

How about "Compers Chat Corner" with the text something like "For questions and chat from compers"?

Thanks Glad for your input, I'm GLAD you're here :D

  • IMHO Compers Chat Corner sounds like it does the same job as the Compers Inn. I don't think Newbies would necessarily think to add questions on a 'chat corner' area ...

But that's just my two cents ...

I take your point, but I think when we get some text under the title, it will hopefully mention questions, so that should make it clear :)

Personally I think that the mere mention of chat in will be seen as an invite to do exactly that ie chat.
This chat will then push any comping related questions further down the board.
I understood that this was to be replacement for Competition Discussion but with the members able to post threads rather than just posts.

I agree there is a danger of this, but I think we can give it a go for a month or two and see how its use develops. I am just glad it mentions Comps so it will discourage threads that should be elsewhere on the forum.

But chat/discuss - not miles apart really. For me I love the idea of folk being able to just post whatever they want; the way it's being used right now. I don't think it's a biggie if threads get pushed back. They're far less likely to be lost than posts on one big thread. And they can easily be bumped back again if wanted :)

Edit: sorry, but this one is haunting me a little. I just want to add - what's wrong with 'chat' anyway - as long as it's off the main board/s? The way it is now people are using it to chat on topic, off topic, ask questions, provide info. All good things, right?

hi, if any posts/threads that should be elsewhere on the forum get posted then all we have to do is pm a BG with the link to request them moved to correct place, i've already done this on quite a few up to now, i did query this with a BG & was advised to treat the new board as we would any other, if there's a posting we're not sure of either in IWI/compers inn/here etc just to pm the BG & it'll be placed in correct board once they've checked it over :)

looks good to me blu & more peeps are using it as opposed to the old one, it's much more relaxed & easy to find a question if needed &/or ask one :)

I am sorry both, I am not sure if you saw the original thread over in Site Feedback?

It was kinda explained on there us compers needed a place not just to replace the Comps Discussion thread, but also where all the threads from IWIW, Main board, plus general chatty comping threads -, somewhere that all us compers could relax together in after a hard session comping, and ask/chat about whatever really, often with a comping skew I admit, but not necessary just a question or post looking for an answer

I do agree, that once we get some text as well describing the board, it will be much clearer,

My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx
