Buying goods to sell on eBay

Hey,

Where do some of you who powersell obtain your items from, do you buy from bankrupt businesses, carboot bulk sellers, wholesalers etc?

Been looking into it lately and am doing some research on what is currently selling well and what will probably sell well over the next few months, have probably £100-200 to get me started although if needed that can be extended by double/triple if I knew for sure it would give a half decent ROI.

I have two accounts. One on which I sell collectables which come mainly from bricks and mortar auctions.

The other I sell new stock which again comes from auctions and wholsalers.

I have found I have lots more problems on the new account. maybe it's what I sell, but I hardly ever have problems with the collectables.

    All of the above :D

It's a bit trial and error I'm afraid. But if it looks too good to be true...it is.

I'm afraid no one is likely to tell you their sources which they have worked hard to find and let you compete with them with little effort.

You need to do your own research and make sure that you build in all of your expenses to see if it will be worthwhile.

I think the usual advice is to buy what you know. If you are a regular buyer of something you will know where the bargains usually are.

I've just attempted to find something that you can't buy on alibaba.com Clearly I haven't been looking for luxury liners or anything obviously impossible. But there is a lot of different products you can buy.

I imagine the tricky bit will be working out which products are actually quality so that you don't end up with many returns and unhappy customers.

I've heard of musical instrument sellers actually going out to China so that they can visit the factories and examine the products.

Yep all those sources plus a few more. Creative thinking is the key to sourcing products that can easily be resold at a profit.

Sorry but no one is going to tell u. As for alibaba as mentioned above, you REALLY need to know what you are doing. Its a mix of honest and scam sellers. Everything is from China. That's the only clue ill give haha.

Buying in bulk is the problem... I could make £5000 profit/ double my money on an item if id a warehouse, forklift and lorry. Not to mention the ebay listing ranking. You need to take into account taxes and freight costs as well

Then there is ebay. New sellers are hit with 10 items a month limit. After that its 100 or so. Ebay don't like if you sell too much, too quick and will ask for paper work. You will also have payment holds on paypal.

I suggest toy start slow and work your way up the ladder
