  • Husband got paid the other night so he gave me £100 to put for christmas, managed to get the baby:

Happy land set was £38 got it for £30
Two sets of happy land figurines for £10
Another happy land set that was £16 for £8

And I got the happy land set that was on the grabbit board for £24 delivered instead of £60.

I already brought her a big bag of pink mega blocks, hello kitty toy pushchair, and a leapfrog pan toy. I mangaged to get her that all in the sale around June time, thinkI'm done on the youngest, will buy her some chocolate and some books from the book people and that will be Christmas sorted.

For the oldest that's a different story, I think she circled the entire Argos book, but we have started teaching her about the value of things and how more expensive things will mean less number of presents.and that numbers of presents doesn't mean less love from us and father Christmas.

Can't believe it's going to be September tomorrow, oldest starts school on Tuesday, she'll be going into year 1. The 6 weeks have flown by, I will really miss have oldest at home :(
  • Nothing to report for today, sent husband off to the post office 4 x 3.65 items he was charged ;for some reason they only asked for £5.10 lol. Not sure why, husband wasn't really listening just put the card in and paid. :)
  • Did our weekly food shop today, typically we can spend between 80-120, went in with an aim of £70 as I had a money off voucher , got it down to £64 there's a good dinner list for the week, so hopefully won't need to top it up.

  • Hello :)

You're doing well with your crimbo shopping!! Nice one! You're very organised!! Seen an offer on the grabbit board last week for a zooble (!!) play set so ordered it for my niece. It's always a start!! ;)

And your shopping bill almost half what it normally is?! That's very well done :)

I've a few things relisted on ebay and a bid on 1 item just :p Couple more days to go still so fingers crossed...

Keep up the good work! :D

  • Hiya,

Ah thank you, I have to be organised I really want daughter to have that magical feeling About Christmas and will try to do it whilst she still believes in the big red man. My niece wants one of them too, lol not that I know what it even is.

I was pleased with the food shop, going to make a fish pie tomorrow, first time ever not sure what's its gonna turn out like though !!

Good luck on your eBay. I had one guy ask for a buy it now, I did it Nd he didn't even buy it. how annoying !

Feeling a bit deflated ATM, my friend is really doing my nut in, recently I had a sky box put in our bedroom beause I threatened to leave them and they gave me that plus upgraded net which is really what my husband wanted. We don't actually have a tv in our room, just one downstairs but I am thinking of buying one after Christmas is over- it only cost me an extra £2 for the box and upgraded net, so don't feel too desperate for tv yet.

A few months ago when we were on full benefits, I received a grant off my uni for about £2000, I told my friend and since then it's just been spend spend spend, she's terrible with money, but she's also selfish she has two children and they do without so she can have new trainers, new phone , she goes out to get wasted whilst doing so she will complain of poverty to her "ex" in order to get more money out of him.

I told her about the sat box and she's like why don't you just buy a new tv so I said its not as simple as just buying a new one I need to budget it in, what with Christmas and about 5 birthdays near it. I think she was baffled with me, we was in a shop and she was like I want to buy a coffee machine and I said to her do you even drink coffee and she was like no, but I want it. It really annoys the hell out of me that some people are like that, I feel like she's bringing me down. I asked her if she had brought new beds for her kids and she was like nah, they can wait!! This is coming from the person who ordered £600 worth of toys from littlewoods and refuses to pay back has the bailiffs at her door and thinks its funny - her answer is well its their fault they shouldnt have let me get the stuff out !

I just don't know what to say to her anymore, I don't feel like she is good for me or my family but I can't say it to her.i can't talk about money saving ect with her because she just thinks I'm sad/ need to get a life. I admit I'm super organised but that's because of my girls I want to ensure they have a nice life :(

Sorry be rambled but had to let it out x
  • Christmas always so much more fun for the young ones (not that I'm old or anything but you know what I mean!! :))

Ah ebay is hit and miss with me. I've bids on 2 things and I think the stuff finishes today. Oh well. Better than nothing! Still have the packaging from the last time too so don't need to be spending any more thankfully :)

Aw that's not good. But don't let it get you down :( Hard to get others to see where you're coming from until they have their own LBM. Unfortunately there are a lot of people like your friend, and they never see that they are responsible for more than just themselves, that money doesn't grow on trees and that debt is a serious issue.

I don't know how close a friend she is. You've already said you can't talk to her about it as she doesn't understand. At the minute you're trying to sort out your own debts and you don't need your friend holding you back. Maybe you can cut back a wee bit on contact, so you don't see each other as much and just change to phonecalls for a while. Or when you do meet her, stay away from shops. If you're meeting for lunch, arrange a picnic instead. Dvd instead of cinema. Try alternatives where you can to save yourself money. If she asks what's going on, say you're trying to save money/pay off debts or tell her whatever you feel comfortable with.

And don't be sorry for rambling! We all do it sometimes :D

  • Wrapped up some of oldests birthday presents, it's not till November but at least if she stumbles upon them she won't see what they are.

Got one parcel to send today, and will look around the house later for more stuff to eBay, did a meal plan for next week the list isn't very big and because I meal planned I'm using the same staples, hopefully we will stick to it, want to reduce the food shop so I have more money to throw at christmas and the next card.

With my friend, I try and limit it but she gets the hump really bad, one time I missed her call and text and she sent me about 5 texts with the last one ending - if you haven't got the balls to say what your problems is then sod you!! It was like Jesus Christ I was sorting out the baby after I told her I was genuinely busy she didn't even say sorry and it made me think how easily she said that worried me a bit. X
  • Hmmmm doesn't sound like the kinda friend I'd like to have about me :(

I'm the sort of happy-go-lucky person who tries to get on with anyone and everyone, and always tries to see the best in people. But at the same time I am very naive and I do let people walk all over me. I'm trying to put a stop to that and I've had to end 2 friendships over the last 4 years because of it. I'm annoyed about how things have turned out with them, even though I'd only known them both about a year or so, but I can't have people like that around me and dragging me down. Life is too short and life is too hard.

I stick to the few good friends I've had for a long, long time, and I know they are the genuine ones and not out to take advantage of me.

My turn to apologise for rambling!! :o

  • It's ok, I'm starting to think what's wrong with me, why is everyone so horrible and backstabbing. Now I don't have anyone I can say I would trust, I have aquaintences but not friends.

I would do anything for anyone too but it just bites you the !!!, everyone is a user and just wants to know everybody else's business. I'm naive too, don't realise that people are using me when it suits them. I think I'm truly gotten to that stage where I just can not be arsed, apparently I was sleep talking and saying to my husband sod them all but in a more expletive manner lol. But at the same time even if people are horrible to me I can't do the same to them it's not in me to be like that, very petty x
