Would anyone recommend an electrix flea comb for my cats?

Ok so my cats have been scratching and licking an awful lot lately and have scabs on them, I have put a flea comb through them the last week and found a few, but not any the last few days (although there are a lot of black spots coming off them in the comb) so I am worried they still have them. They both had them last year and we used frontline which seemed to work fine, however a week later one of our cats was very ill which resulted in very expensive trips to the emergency vet and to this day we are still not sure if it was partly down to the frontline and some kind of reaction, so we don't want to risk this happening again and I am just trying to find natural ways to get rid of them
Would this electric flea comb be worth looking into?

The other thing I was thinking of was using the normal flea comb and then trying to give them a warm bath! :rotfl:Which could be quite fun and a challange!Disneyland Paris (Dream Castle) - January 2010

What did the vet say about the week between Frontline and the reaction, did they explain that? A reaction to one flea treatment does not mean your cat will react to a completely different treatment, that is like saying peanut allergy means you will start being allergic to all food. Actually the scabs might indicate a flea allergy, have you discussed this with your vet? When were your cats last wormed? Some are transmitted by fleas.
If your cat has fleas then your home is infested because most fleas live in the environment not on the pet. An electric flea comb won't touch the problem: your home needs treating to rid it off eggs and larvae not just live fleas. Once you have the infestation under control you *might* be able to maintain your flea-free status with daily flea combing and intermittent spraying of the house.
