Name that poo

I have a problem with poo in my back garden, which I've assumed to be from a dog, although one was certainly from a badger. A recent one is shaped as per dog poo, dark, almost black, but as it decayed it has exposed some seeds, one looking like a cherry pit, suggesting it is not dog poo. Is there some other animal that produces smelly poo? It did smell bad when I was digging nearby. Some other stuff I walked in smelt just like dog poo, perhaps there are multiple animals using my garden as a latrine. There is a deer that visits a neighbour, but deer poo is totally different, and not really smelly.

I agree. We have a hedgehog who regularly visits (we leave out hedgehog nibbles) and he/she regularly thanks us by leaving poo as described above.

With the same dimensions as dog poo? This was a pile 3" across, ~2" high.

The urban foxes near us do very dark poo...

and the dog fox who feel asleep under our scaffold tower last week was HUGE, easily as big as a labrador dog.

    That said...

do you have crows or corvids locally?

they will regurgitate the indigestible bits, beetle cases and seeds, of their meals...

    a bit like owls casts

    Any help ?

I don't think this was of bird origin. It certainly looked like it was squeezed out of something's backside, with a well defined shape. I'll put this one down as fox. Oddly I've not seen any round here.
