advice on decking preservatives?

I have just built some decking. Reclaimed wood underneath and new decking boards and fencing. I now need to treat it. I have read so many negatives about buying proper decking stuff, I am looking for some advice to see if there are any successful treatments preferably cheaper options. I have some shed preservative. Would that be any good? I have teak oil and linseed oil. Would that be any good? What about staining it with ordinary wood stain, then oiling it?
As you can probably guess, I am bamboozled!!!!
Need advice from someone with experience, really. (Please)

I wanted to retain the natural colour of the wood when we had two decks installed in the garden last year, so after some research we bought Wickes Decking Oil in clear and oiled everything, was easy to brush on, kept the wood it's natural colour and protected it from the sun and rain. It's good stuff and would recommend it if you don't want to stain the decking0

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I fancied it a bit darker than natural, like maybe a lightish teak colour as it would go with our house paintwork better. I had heard good feedback about Wickes too. I wonder if I could stain it first or maybe they do it with a tint. I will go to their website. Th:beer:anks again.Keep on trucking!0

Too many products are simply colorants, take care and dig into the product description. There are suitable products out there.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
