  • Is there much stock in 3 bed detached in S/SE Belfast? I've looked at a few but they are mostly out beside FourWinds. A nice area, but I'd prefer to be slightly closer to the city centre.

Looking to get a detached as it will hopefully negate most of the issues with neighbours (i.e. noise).

See leftieM's post above. On the bus route into town and great gardens!

  • Is South Facing gardens really that big a deal? Would people turn a place down because of it?

In this buyers market, and with a cash pile, we can do whatever we want to do. It's not like you'll "miss the boat". ;)

Essential for all the Naked Sunbathing in the privacy of your back garden :) Not that we get that much sun :o

Also great for washing lines/ light loving plants/ solar panels etc…

South facing private garden is a great selling point for any house IMHO ;)
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

I would definitely be turned off a house that had a north-facing garden and even more so if it were overlooked.

  • After today's news, it would help if it didn't face Larne either.

  • FatherO3 makes some very valid points. Factor in the negative equity situation which will increase the reprocessions and bankruptcies this will also add fuel to the fire and drive prices down. My situation is stable and can afford payments on everything I have been advised to possibly think about bankruptcy as an option due to massive negative equality with no end in site. Close to £80k negative equity on a £40k house.

If you are in a stable financial situation and can afford your outgoings, why on earth would you consider bankruptcy?

We have running with the situation for many years now so its a compounding effect. We have are keeping our heads above the water but we have not be able to put money into maintaining the house. As a result the whole house needs work done starting the electrics. The whole house needs painted inside and out. We have just been keeping our heads water with paying our bills and that is all so paying to get things fixed or maintained has been out. When will did our SOA with the 2 different charities we broke even each time before debts and this is with using less recommended food and the famous haircuts! So its a case of a death from a million cuts. While it seems we are ok in that we can pay are debts and "stable" we have cut back on so much it is costing us as the house is in a pretty bad shape.
