Want to sell a vintage dress on Ebay but how to find out what era its from

Went to a carboot this morning and bought a few bits and pieces - I ended up buting this dress as it was £1 and thought maybe I could sell it on ebay. It is handmade and obviously vintage but due to my lack of knowledge I have no idea if its 20's 40's 50's etc
Does anyone know or know where I could find out.

It is the type of dress that was worn by the children in the Waltons. So my guess is that it is dated 30's to 40's.:o
Might be worth donating it to the local theatre group.
Alternatively if it was shortened by about 20 inches (midriff taken out), it could be worn as a long blouse/ tunic with leggings.

I'd have said late 60s, early 70s. Is there a label in the dress?

Nope no label in the dress think it was handmade. Well think I might sell it as just "vintage" and people can make their own minds up. It actually fits me and think it looks really nice on - just don't think I have the style to carry it off!

It is clearly a well-made dress. You could always jazz it up with a waistcoat, a new ribbon-trim and/or some jewellery. But advertising as "vintage" seems perfectly reasonable; it wouldn't be a lie or misleading. Not my colour but a very pretty little dress.

    Best wishes! x

Looks like 70s to me, I remember having several similar dresses like that.

If you sell it on Ebay, just put vintage dress on the title and on the listing put that you think its from the 70's.

Definitely 70s with that frill detail at the bottom. The material looks quite thin as well - polyester was the material of choice then.
