I have an Sandisk 8gb sdhc card that has developed a fault, in the camera it says card error and formatting makes no difference.
If I format in xp it says unable to complete format but shows 7.39gb fat 32
Vista says card is write protected but the switch works ok.
I have tried sd formatter v3.1 which says card or drive not supported by this software and have tried h2testw 1.4 which says error creating file (the parameter is incorrect code87 ).
I can view and copy files off it on pc but only shows 3.61gb.
Any thing else i can try before I contact amazon (purchased December 2011)

You could try this SD card formatter. I used an old Panasonic formatter but the Panasonic site refers here. Hardly surprising as the SD association was formed by Panasonic, Sandisc and Toshiba.
ETA :
I've just re-read your OP and I've just pointed to what you have already tried. It does sound as if the SD card is bricked. Sorry to be no help at all

I am pretty sure it has had it Dave, I have read various threads about card problems but nothing I have tried works, thanks anyway.0

Did you format the card in a PC and not in the camera ?
That is a recipe for disaster ! Always format your cards in the device they are used in - not in your PC.0 -
Formatting in the camera makes no difference, and other camera comes up card error.
other cards work fine in both cameras0 -
Formatting in the camera makes no difference,
I have never seen a detailed explanation for this, but if you format in the PC just once, and this problem occurs, your camera will NEVER read that card again. It doesn't happen to every camera/phone etc, but if it does - just once, the card is ruined. Trying to reformat in the camera will not fix the problem.
Interestingly, I have just got a new [STRIKE]Samsung[/STRIKE] iPhone copy (!) and the hand book for that specifically says to always format the card in the phone and not in a PC.
Throw the card away and buy a new one - and never format it in the PC0 -

Try using disk manager on the pc (through control panel) and see what partitions are present on the card - if its reporting wrong sizes, it could be down to multiple partitions, delete all, create new partition and format to fat32.0 -
I have tried formatting with disc management which says the format did not complete because the the media is write protected, although the switch is in the unlock position and I never use any protect settings.
The capacity is 7.39gb with 3.54gb spare, Basic, fat 32, primary partition , healthy and fault tolerance no.
I know I could just bin it and buy another, but as SanDisk has a 5 year warranty I may see what they say if nothing else works.0
